Bringing home the ‘Bacon’

Will you please meet Miss Violet BEST and her partner “STAR”?

Vi

STAR is an “Oxford Black”. He is a “Boar on Tour”, staying temporarily in Violets “one down” little love nest  somewhere in Thurleigh, until Vi (an aristocratic descendant of the Old Spots of Gloucester)  is in that delicate condition which will bring the patter of tiny trotters some three months; three weeks and three days after the (successful) deed is done.

In fact, unless our eyes deceived us we think the deed is already done – and on Christmas Day! (..and you were watching The Queen?)

This would mean the entry of the piglets into the world around the time of the AGM on 16th April. We will keep you posted here, with photos and news..

“Why”, one hears you whisper, “should I care?”      I will tell you.

Violet BEST aims to be a productive member of our Trust. If the confinement goes as planned, Vi will be donating one of her offspring to the Capital Fund BY AROUND October time this year.

As the Co-op Bank steadfastly refuses to accept bacon into their vaults, Vi’s free range and much cared for contribution will be sold to you as BEST BACON at £5 a pound, or as PORK if you prefer at the same price. It is guaranteed that once tasted, you will never shop at Tescos again!

The B.E.S.T. is seeking a sponsor for the little ones food bill of £40.00 which will entitle you to name him or her; have photos taken; visit for feeding and fussing, and take home the first 5lbs of meat free of charge.

Contact our Secretary, Graham Turvey for detail.

Help The B.E.S.T. TO Bring Home the Bacon!
